Where Are All The Good Ones in Dating? A Guide to Green Flags & Finding A Healthy Relationship

Discover the Dating Green Flags That Tell You You're On To A Good Thing

By Phoebe Rogers, Clinical Psychologist specialising in Dating & Relationships

A couple on a date
An intimate date

It is often a common complaint of my clients, and a statement many believe to be true when it comes to dating to find love: "All the good ones are taken". It may seem to be true when it comes to dating apps and swiping, however, this hasn't been my experience. In fact, I met my green flag guy on a dating app (it was Hinge) back in May 2022.

When I first started chatting to my partner on the app, his profile had green flags: he was warm, and said he would "listen to you whinge about Karen" after a hard day at work. Humour and empathy = a big green flag.

As things progressed, he began to ask me questions that communicated interest, care, and a genuine intention to have a relationship- I remember he asked if I was the type who liked to receive good morning texts from a partner. And from there, he proceeded to be consistent in his communication, initiated dates, and never left me guessing. Of course, there were little moments of miscommunication, or my anxious attachment flared up when he didn't respond instantly to my texts.... but in sharing my feelings we always made healthy repairs and my feelings were acknowledged. I never once felt that my needs were too much for him.

A Guide to Green Flags & Finding a Healthy Relationship

So, in sharing my story, I hope this offers you some hope, and knowledge of what to look out for.

Another beautiful example of a man with many relationship green flags is Noah (The Hot Rabbi) from the Netflix series Nobody Wants This. In fact, he inspired my recent instagram post on green flags, which you can see here. I include the first 5 of 25 examples below. I want you too to know and discover the dating green flags that tell you you're on to a good thing.

Let this post serve as a guide to green flags & finding a healthy relationship. The more armed with knowledge you are, the more able you are of finding a healthy, lasting love. See the rest of the green flags here, and save them for later.

Ebony Leigh who writes for Body & Soul saw the post and my reference to Noah's relationship green flags. She felt so inspired by this post and what I could see in Noah- a beautiful template of a green flag guy: secure in himself, vulnerable, emotionally available, and clear with his feelings and intentions - that she wrote an article titled, All The Relationship Green Flags From Netflix's Nobody Wants This. You can read her thoughtful analysis of Noah, the show, and my observations here.

I am telling all my clients to watch the show because of these very reasons: you can see how green flags actually look in a (male) partner. We can live in anxiety and be looking out for the red flags, so please don't miss the green flags. Good partners do exist, and they are absolutely out there waiting for someone like you.

I'd love to hear from you and know how the green flags list has helped you in dating.

And make sure you don't miss out on my completely free training, The Seen & Secure Dater, designed to help you shift your dating patterns from attracting emotionally unavailable types to meeting an aligned partner who just feels different. You can access the training here.
